Admission Processing Time
Admission to our programs works on a rolling basis, so there is no set date by which applicants are notified of their acceptance. Processing time depends in part upon the volume of applications that are being processed at any given point during the application intake cycle. Applications submitted for any semester other than the current intake period (e.g., spring, summer and fall) are not usually reviewed until the semester prior as high numbers of applications require that those for the upcoming semester are prioritized over those applying further in advance. For example, a student applying for a fall semester that begins in August would be reviewed the previous May/June at the earliest.
*You must submit this application again if you wish to take courses in subsequent semesters.
The English Language Skill Requirement
All international applicants will be required to provide English Proficiency Test Scores and meet the minimum score requirements. Students from countries where English is the only official language, who have attended non-US institutions where the only official language of instruction is English, or who have earned a degree within the United States may qualify for an exemption at the discretion of the academic department. The university does not accept scores compiled from multiple tests to meet English proficiency requirements.
Minimum Acceptable Scores
- TOEFL (iBT & Home Edition): 4.5
TOEFL Sub-Sections:- Reading: 4.0
- Listening: 4.0
- Speaking: 4.0
- Writing: 4.0
- IELTS Academic: 6.5*
NOTE: TOEFL/IELTS scores are valid for 2 years from the test date. ETS will not provide score reports on exams older than 2 years and a new test would be required.
For the TOEFL, use school code 5812 when registering with ETS. Scores must be sent electronically by ETS as UF does not accept paper or unofficial copies. Make sure your scores arrive before the application deadline.
* UF is registered to receive IELTS scores using the IELTS Results Service E-Delivery. Scores should be sent to the University of Florida, which only accepts scores from this E-delivery service. UF does not accept paper Test Report Forms or unofficial copies of IELTS Test Report Forms from students. Applicants should contact the IELTS test center where they took the IELTS to request their official test results be sent to our account name: The University of Florida. An institution code is not required.
We will begin processing non-degree applications once registration opens for that semester. Please check our critical dates here: Critical Dates. If approved, we will email you with instructions on how to submit a registration request.
