Non-Degree
Individuals interested in medical physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, anatomical sciences education or aging can take courses as non-degree seeking students before committing to a full graduate program. This option allows you to explore specialized subjects in your field of interest while deciding whether to pursue a graduate certificate or master’s degree.
Credit Transfer Guidelines
Up to 6 credit hours taken as a non-degree student can be transferred toward any other online UF medical sciences graduate program (except the Graduate Certificate in Medical Physiology) if admitted and a grade of “B” or higher is earned.
Programs that accept up to 6 credits earned as a non-degree student:
- Master’s Degree in Medical Physiology and Pharmacology
- Master’s Degree in Physiology and Aging
- Master’s Degree in Medical Anatomy and Physiology
- Master’s Degree in Innovative Aging Studies
- Master’s Degree in Anatomical Sciences Education
- Graduate Certificate in Cardiovascular/Renal Physiology
- Students pursuing coursework from the Graduate Certificate in Medical Physiology with a specialization in Cardiovascular/Renal Physiology in non-degree status must take GMS6400c: Principles of Medical Physiology (6 credits).
- Graduate Certificate in Medical Human Anatomy
- Graduate Certificate in Medical Anatomy and Physiology
- Graduate Certificate in Aging and Geriatric Practice
- Graduate Certificate in Anatomical Sciences Education
- Graduate Certificate in Physiology and Aging
Programs that accept up to 4 credits earned as a non-degree student:
- Graduate Certificate in Medical Physiology (non-degree students must first complete GMS6440: Fundamentals of Medical Physiology)
Suggested Courses for Non-Degree Students
If you do not meet admission requirements for the online master’s degree in medical physiology and pharmacology or master’s degree in medical physiology and aging program, we recommend that you take the following courses (6 credits) as a non-degree student.
- GMS 6440: Fundamentals of Medical Physiology (1 credit)
- Your choice of GMS 6401, GMS 6402, GMS 6419, GMS 6474 or GMS 6479 (2 credits)
- GMS 6551: Fundamentals of Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (1 credit)
- Your choice of GMS 6520, GMS 6530, GMS 6531 or GMS 6540 (2 credits)
